LETTER OF AGREEMENT


The contract presently being negotiated between UT-AAUP and the Employer includes provisions for the evaluation of faculty performance. One important aspect of this evaluation, that has often been minimized, is the evaluation of teaching. UT-AAUP and the Employer agree that an effort to improve the methods by which teaching is evaluated will in fact strengthen good teaching practices and offer opportunity to improve teaching practices at the University. The parties also agree that proper evaluation of teaching is necessary to implement the provisions of the contract.

UT-AAUP and the Employer agree to work together to determine methods by which evaluation of teaching is to be done. Implementation of these methods will begin no later than Fall 1995. Further, the parties agree to discuss methods by which the scholarship of teaching is to be enhanced at the University.
